I worked for months, working 12- hour days sanding floors and taking wallpaper down with the baby on my back and the others climbing in the playpen. Ha! We were getting close to finishing, but it was still a long distance to go. In this undertaking I was ready to spend a considerable amount of money and time searching for the perfect home. For my budget to remain in good shape, I went out with my 3 boys looking for bargains at estate sales. It was our weekly routine of walking around auctions and garage sales on the weekend, and buy a variety of pieces old and newly created. It was my job to spend the day in the driveway working on painting or sanding. It was a bit like it... That's where my passion for restoring furniture began. Although our house was decorated, I was unable to quit. There was an area on the market where I sold items. I was able to outgrow the area because I had plenty of pieces that I could use. Then I began hosting open houses in my home that saw more than 1 000 visitors came through on the span of a weekend. They could buy anything they saw on the ground floor. Growing Days is the result from this. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our sweet family as well. I was trying to find that perfect balance of what it was like starting a new venture as well as a mother too. Growing Days was the obvious option. Nora, my 4th kid was born in the year 2013. This was an excellent direction for my company, however, I needed a vacation. I took a break from creating vintage furniture and I slowed down my speed in order to stay at home and take care of the kids. It was exactly what I needed at that moment. Within a couple of months, my phone started to ring. There were calls from people asking me to assist them in decorating their homes and interiors. A majority of these were the ones who had strolled through my house during open house for furniture! Once I had a few months I started taking on clients in my own way. In no time, I was managing numerous accounts as well as a home renovations business. I'm sure you would have amused me if I had told you that it would be the foundation of a DIY Network tv series. It's hilarious to look back about the idea.
