He was the father of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. As a 13-year-old, Richard Bruce and his family moved to Casper (in the US state of Wyoming) where his father served as director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's the district for soil conservation.
